Mutant Two Mouthed Fish
A freakish two mouthed goldeye fish weighing 2.5-kilogram was caught last week in Lake Athabasca.
The mutant fish was pointed out by two boys
Two kids brought the mutant fish to the attention of Canada’s park manager, Stuart Macmillan. Macmillan studied the freaky fish before handing it over.
“We had just pulled up to the dock and some kids came over and said, `Hey, we’ve got a fish over here with two mouths,” Macmillan said Tuesday.
“It was really unusual. The fish has an obvious abnormality. I had never seen anything like that myself before. I can’t speculate on what might have caused it.”

From the biology classes I’ve taken, primarily from genetic theory, I know natural variation occurs all the time through genetic mutations. Sometimes it is in the form of having two different eye colors from birth. Sometimes it is in the form of human disorders like when people are born with an extra chromosome to have 3 instead of 2. Before these disorders were studied in humans, they were considered to be freak occurances or the work of demons.
In nature, these type of mutations occur all the time. Many animal genetic mutations have not yet been studied; thus, environmentalists attribute these strange mutations, like having two mouths, to industrial pollution. Though that may be a contributing factor, it is not necessarily the cause. These types of mutations occured centuries ago, even before the industrial revolution.

Hey Diana,
So which big corporation in the Alberta tarsands area do you work for?? Are you familiar with the water and other environmental issues in northern Alberta?? Just wondering as you seem to be quite ‘slighted’ with your conclusion as to the cause of the abnormality of the fish.

Give me a break Diana, it is very clear that a two mouthed fish isn’t a simple case of natural evolution. Environmental issues have been proven to effect animal populations and mutations are exactly what scientist’s and biologist look for in determining pollutants that will effect the human population negatively. So don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s rain.
All I can say for Cheryl is you are a nut job. Everything is not a freaking conspiracy. For a conspiracy to be real, it would require masses of competent and meglomaniacle people. This is the real world, not Texas Walker Ranger.
Either way it’s apparent you are both idiots.

This is a clear case of decay. Mooneye and Goldeneye are considered bony tounged fish and have teeth on what appears to be their tounge. What appears to have happened is that this tounge like structure has pierced through the lower jaw and gave the appearance of an additional mouth.
