Haunted House Review by: Nicole

This was the absolute WORST haunted house that I have ever been to. It costed 19.00 to get in, we had to stand in line for an HOUR. So the whole time, we were thinking it would be really good. It was a long haunted house. Most are like 10 minutes to go through. This thing was like a half hour. But it was stupid. In the beginning there was a movie that took about 5 or 10 minutes. You go through that, and you go into an empty room. There were ALOT of rooms with nothing scary in them. They would be kinda dark, but absolutely nothing in them. Through this haunted house, no monsters or scary things jump out and scare you, nothing chases you, or gets in your face. There are alot of fake things that make noises…fake witches, dead people, skeletons, etc. Towards the end you have to “defeat the wizard”…which has nothing to do with being scared out of your mind. You have to get gems…you have the opportunity to get 3…but to get the gems, you have to guess where it is out of like 100 choises. In one room, you have to pick the right broomstick out of 20 broomsticks. In the next room you have to pick the right book out of 100 books. In the last room you pick the right cup out of 50 cups. However many gems you get decides how many chances you get, to find the wizard. To find the wizard, you have to pick the right button out of 20 buttons. Its a very rare chance that you will find the wizard. I would say this haunted house is a waste of time. You pay for the very very very rare chance that you will actually get your money back. Other than that, you pay for the HUGE building that the event is in…and the building is empty and doesnt have enough scary things in it. DONT go to this haunted house. Its a waste of money.

Located in Chelsea. Legend has it that there was a crazed scientist at the University of Michigan named Dr. James Marsh. Dr. Marsh specialized in DNA and genetics at the university and he was very interested in cloning. Eventually, he started his own experiment and created a creature named Pigman. Pigman terrorized the citizens of Chelsea for centuries until he was slaughtered by the townspeople. Now in the year 2007, he has come back for revenge. So, if you are into fun in the woods check out Asylum in the Hills Haunted Attraction.

Haunted House Review by: Clive O.

Located in southeast Michigan. More gruesome than the first. It tells the story of a haunted bed and breakfast house located in Waterford, MI. The manor suffered a horrific plight, the owners and temporary residents of the quarters were brutally murdered. Tales say that the inhabitants of the home resurrected from the dead as spirits to seek revenge on Waterford citizens.

Haunted House Review by: Clive O.

This house is said to be actually haunted by a supernatural being in the appearance of a woman. She terrorized a local family in the early sixties, however they moved out in time before something terrible happened. Now the house still stands in Detroit on Market St. If you’re in to real life horrors then this is the perfect haunted house for you.

Event being reviewed: Phillips Mansion

Haunted House Review by: Clive O.

Located in Central West of Michigan in the city of Grand Rapids. It was built in 1864 by James T. Phillips. The Phillips family lived there for thirty-two years, and in 1912 Mr. Phillips died in his beloved home. Over the years the mansion took many forms, and during that time strange occurrences have been said to happen. The supernatural beings residing at the Phillips mansion are said to be nice entities, but like to tease the living.

To recap, there is the Asylum in the Hills Haunted Attraction in Chelsea. Talking about scary creatures running around in the woods is a little too creepy for me. Therefore, let’s move on to The Hacker House in Waterford, MI, the bed and breakfast home that is haunted. Next, is the real life haunted house in Detroit, MI called Cole Adams House. At last, there is the Phillips Mansion with ghost who super friendly, but super annoying. So there you have it, the best of the best haunted houses rated in the Great Lakes state.

Event being reviewed: Urban Legends

Haunted House Review by: Sarah M.

In 2005, my friends and I decided to celebrate Halloween by going to Urban Legends haunted house located in Warren, MI. We arrived at the Urban Legends around 9 pm Eastern Time Zone. The line was so long it was unbelievable but we waited an hour or so to get to the front of the line. It was finally our time, we were ready.

My friends were on the other side of me concocting a plan to make sure that they had someone on each side of them, so we ended up in a circle with our elbows locked. We walked in the room, which was dark. I could not see at all. So, we ended up going around in circles because of not being able to see and having our arm locked. So, imagine trying to go forward but you would end up spinning around it was so annoying. I let go of one of my friend’s hand. I used my freehand to guide us through the darkness since I was in front. The first character appeared in front of me I continued walking and pull everyone else who were somewhat scared but one of my friend lost the hand of the other so she started to run the other way and found herself in the corner with the character in front of her while she screamed “please don’t kill me” over and over again. I was laughing hysterically. We finally got her and continued moving.

The next room was made to look like the movie “The Ring” so “Samantha” was sitting in the corner next to the television. On the side next to us was a bed so we had to maneuver around the bed so that we did not have to get too close to her. I made it over because I thought it was pointless; seriously she was not going to do anything to us so I walk over to the other side of the room. My friends were still on the opposite side trying to figure out how to get across, while I waited for them. As they tried to cross the room “Samantha” jumped up and they back up and fell on the bed. All you heard was “Crack” yes they broke the bed; that made me laugh even harder than before. They finally made it over to where I was standing and we continued through the house. We made our way to the exit when all I saw was one of my friends jumping up in front of me, pointing back toward the man that look like Jason. Jason had a chainsaw in his hand. I was so annoyed and because it was so loud due to the chainsaw I could not hear her. I finally figured out that she was trying to tell me she lost her shoe by Jason and she was too scared to go back so I had to go get it. So I went up to Jason looked him in the eyes and got the shoes and head towards the exit. We finally made it out of the haunted house in one piece. I had enjoyed myself but only because my friends kept me entertained with their mishaps but the haunted house was not at all bone chilling or scary.

Event being reviewed: Erebus 4 Story Haunted Attraction – Pontiac, MI

Haunted House Review by: Mike

First off im going to say dont let a big building and fancy advertising fool you. Erebus is one of the “lamest” attractions i have ever been through. After waiting around in the darkness of pointac with dirty homeless people at your heels in the pouring rain for an hour, we finally got to the front door. Thinking this was time to go in the was yet another 20 lines to wait in. 45 minutes go bye as a stupid video os ghosts dancing plays obnoxiously? we buy our tickets which were 20 dollars! thats an outrage for one attraction! we walk into a dark hallway thinking it has started and it hasent we walk up some stairs and guess what another line!! after all this waiting we get to the house. 80% of the props are poorley made foam dinosours and monekys. The acting crew was the worst i have ever seen. the rooms were poorly set wityh unattractive paint jobs. and it seems to never end. i was not scared at all. and the grand finale is a foam dino behind a gate! wooo scary! not!
i do not recomend this haunt unless you want to stand around all night for nothing.

Haunted House Review by: Mark

I would have to say that this is the best haunted house in the area. This haunt has always been a good one but this year it’s amazing! They have a prison escape theme that is great! Great rooms and the best actors anywhere. They just keep coming at you all the way through. It is very scary this year with an ending that will make you pee your pants! So far this year we have visited Erubus, Realm of Darkness, Fear Factory, Urban Legnds And Deadly Intentions. Hands down, Deadly is the best haunt of the lot.

Haunted House Review by: Cameron M.

I went with about 20 of my friends and family to this haunted house thinking it would be really scary. The first thing we did was went on the hayride which was pretty descent. After we went to the haunted house which looked really creepy. I go in and it was so lame. The haunted house is about 5-10 minutes long which made me mad. The maze connected to the house was really small. We did not get lost once. Since I had fun I would give this a 3/5.

Haunted House Review by: Cameron M.

The line for this was very short. It took about 5 minutes to get through the line. We went in and right away 15 things started to pop up. It took us about 20-30 minutes to get through the whole thing. I thought it was worth the 16 dollars! I’ve heard bad reviews about this place so I had second thoughts. Good thing I went to it! I would give this a 5/5!

Haunted House Review by: Monica S.

A friend and I went into this haunted house since I won a couple of passes, sparing us $20 each. Even though I have to admit that the props were amazing and I was in awe, but I was not scared. The actors can be extremely annoying. As soon as we passed the ticket counter, an actress portraying a witch starting screaming at my friend because she didn’t have her ticket ready. Then she began yelling at me for waiting and tried to order me up the stairs by getting in my face. Needless to say, she almost got knocked out which would have resulted in me being kicked out. The actors do need some retraining and they should really ease up on the jumping out yelling “BOO” at the corners. It’s really too predictable. If you want to be amazed with the neat props, then you will enjoy this place. If you’re looking to be scared, go elsewhere.

Haunted House Review by: Sharon

Very, very disappointed. We spent an hour to drive there, Got there at 8 p.m. Purchased tickets and then waited in like for just under 3 hours to get in. That was utterly ridiculous. You don’t even wait that long at Cedar Point. Also, we were given only one chance to find gems, and that consisted of picking 1 of 5 goblets. When we didn’t pick the correct one, we were told that we would have other chances to get gems. Well, it never happened. We were given no other opportunites. Although the layout and effects were decent, there wasn’t near enough scariness to warrant the total 5 hours we spent for this (1 hour there, 3 hours waiting in line, 1 hour going home). It’ll be great for kids 11 and under, but for the adults, it’s sorely lacking. Again, nice effects, but not enough chills for the money or time.

Haunted House Review by: Anthony

The haunting is by far the best haunted house I have ever had the opportunity to attend. I suggest every one go. It has a scare at every turn. For those who have week hearts. The give out “wimp” signs. The ghost tour extra is by far the best interactive frightful fun I have ever had. It is also great for the kids. Just enough spook on the ghost tour to give them a taste. Out of 5 stars I give them a 6.

Haunted House Review by: Casey

We drove about 45 minutes to attend this highly hyped haunted house. What a disappointment! We get there and there are two lines. One that is 2 hours or longer and one that is a speedpass line, in which they promise you will get right in. We had already bought our tickets online, alot of good that did, and decided we did not want to wait in the cold for 2+ hours, so we paid an extra $8 to get in ($28 total). What a rip-off! After waiting almost 1 hour in the speedpass line, we got in, only to wait in more lines, being herded like cattle into a series of several rooms. We then watched a movie that tried to explain what to do, regarding finding gems. We were told that peasants would be wandering the house and if you found them, to help them and they would give you clues. We did NOT see one single peasant. Hardly no one jumped out at us. The rooms are decorated very cool, but no scares. The Realm of Darkness alleges they have 52 rooms. I would say we seen less than 20 total before being escorted out since we did not pick the right cup that contained an alleged gem. We were shown 5 cups with what looked like milk in them. We chose one, were told we chose incorrectly, and were escorted down a quick route out of the haunted house. What a scam!! My friend ended up calling to complain the next day and spoke with the owner who was very rude to her. Please be forwarned. Do NOT WASTER YOUR MONEY AT THIS HAUNTED HOUSE! It is a scam.

Never do I get scared in a haunt but this one got to me. I am at Wayne State Theatre Department and know all the tricks but these guys are insane! I couldn’t believe that I actually started to panic and it didn’t let up. Halfway through I started to scream and they never let me stop. This one was well worth the money. You should go.

Haunted House Review by: Reggie

I’ve read the previous review of this attraction and I must say, I totally disagree!! This was one of the best haunted houses I’ve been to. It was not short, and you could tell a lot of time and money went into the props, costumes and settings. The look and feel of the place draw you in, which add suspense to the walkthrough. I do agree with the assessment of finding the Wizard and getting your money back ( it’s close to impossible), but the amount of time you spend inside is MUCH better than a place like Erebus, which is a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!!

Haunted House Review by: Allison

Do not waste your time and money. We took my son for his birthday (18th) and he was VERY disappointed. The “actors” wore masks that are horrible and not scary at all. Out of everyone, 2 actors were kind of scary. The scariest one didn’t even wear a mask. We were all shocked when it ended in 5 minutes. I walked out to find my son looking dejected sitting on my car. The actors TRIED to make it special for him by calling his name and stuff but they just were NOT scary. I’ve basically given up on finding any decent haunted houses in Metro Detroit. There needs to be a site for REAL reviews of haunted houses. I think most of the positive reviews are made by the people that work at each place.
