Although movie remakes usually tend to not end up on the same scale as originals, the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead tops most lists of best zombie flicks ever. Die hard zombie fans will tell you that this modern version of zombies is the ultimate zombie movie ever made.

Powerful acting skills make Night of the Living Dead rank right up there with the best of the best as far as zombie movies go too.

Shaun of the Dead is in addition to being one of the best zombie movies it also throws in some humor and romance along the way.

The 1979 Italian movie Zombi 2 is a classic that covers every aspect you could look for in a zombie movie.

Another comedy slash zombie movie, Dead Alive, that came out in 1992 offers a cheesier version of the zombie flick if that is possible.

The British epic 28 Days Later incorporated digital effects to make this zombie flick a modern winner.

Alien slugs on the brain controlling the zombies in Night of the Creeps made this a fun addition to the list.

Halloween Costume Make up – Undead Ghouls & Zombies

Zombie Face Makeup - Special EffectsThere isn’t a Halloween costume mask in creation that can look as realistic as a good makeup job.  However, getting that special Halloween undead look can be a trick for anyone that hasn’t used costume makeup or prosthetics before.  I know in my youth I had spent numerous hours sticking icky sticky stuff all over my face.  Desparately trying to get the desired ghoulish look for my costume and always ending up looking more like a circus clown gone bad than the horrific ghoul I had invisioned.

The problem isn’t that you don’t have the correct  costume make-up or materials, it’s just that no one ever explained how to apply the make-up.  Directions on the back of bottles and the prosthetic makeup packages leave just about everything to the imagination.   It doesn’t matter if you’re making a tiger, pirate skeleton or an undead zombie face, sometimes a little direction goes a long, long way.

This first video is without prosthetics and just costume makeup.  Using a simple costume makeup kit you can make one creepy undead zombie.  I will be listing more halloween how to videos on using prosthetics, so stay tuned.  Be sure to let me know of your halloween costume worries and I’ll try my best to help you out.
