Medieval Costumes

Medieval costumes range from very basic to extremely elegant and costly. One of the best solutions to the expensive of these types of costumes is to try to find the basics on your own and add in the more authentic accessories your base.

Men can start with some basic long pants tucked into calf high tie up boots and women can use a basic long, flowing dress preferably velvet.

Finding accessories to go with it is not too difficult. You can find a lot of pouches and bags that are reminiscent of that time. Costume jewelry and hair accessories are not too costly either.

If you get creative, you may even be able to find armor and weapons to go along with the time period and enhance the costume, so it is clear what time frame you are trying to duplicate.

If you use your imagination, you should be able to create or buy just the right outfit for your medieval costume.

Renaissance Fairs can be found all over the country portraying arts, entertainment, food and culture of the 17th century. Unlike most fairs, the Renaissance Fair involves the people who are attending the fair, much more than others including the way they dress to go to the fair.

Renaissance costumes are a huge part of the fair environment and huge sums of money can be spent for authentic looking clothing to look the part for the fair.

Women dress in elaborate gowns made of velvet and silk while men dress in long pants with high boots and flowing shirts. Many include vests and there are hundreds of accessories for both men and women like armor, hats, belts, pouches to carry things in and veils and scarves. There are also many patterns available to make your own Renaissance costumes.

    Tudor Costumes

The Tudor Era, from 1485 to 1603 was a provocative period of history, revealed also by the clothing worn during that time. The most popular costumes include the Tavern wench, Innkeeper, Celtic dress, Steersman, Kitchen wench and Monk’s robe. Clothing from this time is rich in color and texture and highly stylized.

Women’s blouses tend to be low cut and off the shoulder and revealing. Their floor length skirts are flowing, and are usually made of several layers, some with corsets.

Men’s outfits generally include black boots, vest, loose fitting pants and a drop yoke white shirt.

Clothing of this period tended to reflect class and rank, so royalty tended to wear outfits that were more complex while working class people wore less expensive, more simplistic clothing.

Ghost Car Vanishes - Police Baffeled

This is one of the most interesting and creepy videos I have seen in awhile.  This ghostly video show a high speed car chase of the Garden City P.D. and what they refer to as the Ghost Car.

The Ghost Car swerves and weaves in and out of traffic.  The driver is “like a man possessed” and all hell breaks loose.
