Quick Costume Ideas at the Last Minute

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Did you decide at the last minute that you want to go to that Halloween party or go out with friends trick or treating? You can still make a great costume without breaking the bank and without having to run around like crazy, trying to find what you need.

One of the easiest costumes is a gypsy. You just need a blouse that’s ruffly and feminine, several loose skirts that you can layer, and a lot of costume jewelry.

If you don’t want to be so girly – or if you’re not a girl – you might want to go as a hobo. Old jeans and a patched-up jacket work great. Just take a stick and tie a handkerchief on the end of it, and you can stash your candy in it. A little ‘dirt’ on your face can be done with smudged eyeliner or almost any kind of makeup, and you’re ready to hit the streets to trick or treat or go to that party.

Turn Your Family Into the Addams Family This Halloween

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Who can forget the Addams family? If you want to dress like them this Halloween, you can do it on a budget and still look great.

The wonderful thing about the Addams family is that their clothing was so simple- they dressed in black. Mortia and Wednesday had some lace on their dresses, but not much. Gomez had a black suit. Pugsley wore mostly black, with a black and white striped shirt. Easy as can be.

Don’t forget uncle Fester with a black monk-like robe, bald cap and white face paint.

You won’t have to do much work and you’ll be able to have a great Halloween, whether you’re going to a party, going out with friends to trick or treat, or just staying home and answering the door to pass out candy all night.

Grease is the Word This Halloween

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

The 50’s aren’t even a memory of most people who dress up for Halloween anymore but thanks to the popularity of the movie Grease, people still think about that decade fondly, even if they weren’t there. If you want to dress up like a Grease character for Halloween, it’s not that difficult to do.

Sandy’s costume can be made quite easily from:

A white short sleeve blouse
Pale yellow waistcoat
A long flared yellow skirt (use a crinoline to make it puffy)
White socks
White tennis shoes
Ponytail style blonde wig
Mascara, pale pink lipstick

If you want to dress like Danny, here’s what you’ll need:

A black jacket
A black t-shirt
Black pants
White socks
Black shoes
A 1950s-style black wig
Black sunglasses

Easy! You’ll look like you came straight out of the 50s in no time, and for very little money.

Start with tight black leggings and add a long tunic type blouse on type. Make sure this is long enough to go over your hips to accentuate them. The shirt would be best if it were white. Add a belt for a little added fashion accessorizing. Next find some satin knee high boots and a blonde wig with long hair if necessary. Make sure the hair is very blonde with dark roots and you will pull off the classic Bardot look.
