One of the easiest costumes is a gypsy. You just need a blouse that’s ruffly and feminine, several loose skirts that you can layer, and a lot of costume jewelry.

If you don’t want to be so girly – or if you’re not a girl – you might want to go as a hobo. Old jeans and a patched-up jacket work great. The Notting Hill Carnival is a huge event with hundreds of participants that spend months working on costumes to go with the music and dance of the day. The show offers everything from small groups to international teams the perform all over throughout the year. Bands at Carnival must have at least 30 people in costume. Start with tight black leggings and add a long tunic type blouse on type. Make sure this is long enough to go over your hips to accentuate them. The shirt would be best if it were white. Add a belt for a little added fashion accessorizing. Next find some satin knee high boots and a blonde wig with long hair if necessary. Make sure the hair is very blonde with dark roots and you will pull off the classic Bardot look.
